Smart Slow Cooker Tips to Maximize Flavor and Cool
To make the most of your slow cooker strategy this season, consider these smart moves:
- Think “Low and Slow.” Cooking on low minimizes heat spikes, preserves flavors, and maintains your comfort.
- Prep ahead. Even the night before. Have everything ready so when morning comes, you can start cooking without heating the whole house. Dinner will be prepared without the midday sweat.
- Resist lid-peeking. Heat escapes when you lift the lid, which extends your cooking time. Trust the cooker.
- Slow cooker liners–easy cleanup. Less scrubbing, more lounging.
- Lean into energy savings. Slow cookers use much less electricity than an oven or stovetop. Keeping your electric bill and the kitchen cooler.

Slow cookers make mealtimes a breeze, and baked potatoes are my personal favorite. Wash six potatoes, prick them with a fork. First, rub with olive oil, then generously with salt and pepper. Then, let the slow cooker do its magic on High for 2.½ to 3 hours. Top them with leftover pork or chili from the night before and let everyone create their own loaded masterpiece. Easy, fun, and a meal that brings the whole family together. Give sweet potatoes a try, you’ll love them.
Another favorite recipe with my family and friends is my Crockpot Lasagna.
