Classic Old-Fashioned Meatloaf

Ingredients

Meatloaf

  • pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup dried breadcrumbs
  • 1 meduim onion - grated
  • 1 clove garlic - minced
  • 2 tbsps chopped parsley (optional)
  • 2 large eggs - slightly beaten
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • tsps salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Meatloaf

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or tin foil.
  • Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, parsley, eggs, onion, garlic, 1/4 cup ketchup, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1½ teaspoons salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper. Using your hands, mix until all ingredients are well combined.
  • Transfer the meatloaf mixture to the baking sheet and form into a 9 x 5 loaf'
  • Place meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, combine 2 teaspoons of brown sugar, 1/4 cup ketchup, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce and mix until well blended.
  • Remove the meatloaf from the oven after 30 minutes and brush the top and sides with the ketchup glaze. Place back in the oven to bake until the glaze starts to carmelize, approximately another 25 minutes, If you prefer, use a meat thermometer to test doneness. When the thermometer is placed in the center of the meatloaf it should register 160℉
